The Brothers of St. Stephen is a canonically erected Religious institute, founded by Francis Cardinal Arinze in the year 1975, with Principal Aim as the glory of God and sanctification of the members.
The Secondary Aim of the congregation is to prepare Brothers to foster Catechesis and allied church work in schools and out of schools, such as
*Preparation of faith.
*Organizing Catechetical instructions and allied seminars for various categories of people.
*Giving leadership and instruction to lay categories of people.
Some Brothers however may be Teachers, Social Workers, Religious Artist, Electricians, Tailors, Carpenters or Builders. Others still (according to canon 672) may engage in kinds of tread or professions that suit their religious state of life.
QUALIFICATION
Prospective candidates must be good Catholics with good health and fervent spiritual disposition. Academically, Degree holders, N.C.E, WAEC/SSCE, NECO and NABTEB, Good trade or handiwork may equally be considered to join.
MOTTO: That they may know thee (Jn. 17:3).

When men join Brothers of St. Stephen, BSS, their vocation is not discerned based on their academic achievement, but on their calling and generosity to respond to God’s invitation to religious life.
Many men need to have ongoing studies for the ministry to which God is calling them.
